Disclaimers 🟡

What are disclaimers?

Disclaimers let you tell dashboard viewers what to expect from the data they're looking at — a caveat about a data source, a note about a pending migration, or anything that adds context or heads off confusion.

Where they appear

Disclaimers show up in one of two ways:

• Banner — the full title and note, shown at the top of the dashboard
• Badge + tooltip — a compact "Disclaimer" pill next to the page title; hover to see the full note

If a disclaimer has Let viewers minimize it turned on, viewers can collapse the banner down to the badge themselves, and their choice is remembered the next time they visit.

Two ways to scope a disclaimer

Every disclaimer is scoped along two independent dimensions:

A disclaimer at a more specific level or page always wins over a more general one — but only one disclaimer is ever shown at a time per page. They don't stack.

Setting the General disclaimer

The General disclaimer is the baseline — it applies to every dashboard across your organization unless something more specific overrides it.

1. Go to Organization Settings → Disclaimers

2. Under General (all dashboards), click Add

3. Fill in the drawer and click Create:

   • Variant — Neutral (gray), or another color to signal severity
   • Display as — Banner, or Badge + tooltip
   • Let viewers minimize it — lets a Banner collapse down to the badge
   • Default state — Minimized or Expanded banner, for first-time viewers
   • Title (optional) and Note (required — this is the message itself)

Overriding at the Client or Location level

A Client or Location can override anything it inherits from above — useful when one client's data has a caveat the rest of the org doesn't.

1. Go to the Client's or Location's Disclaimers tab — the row shows what it currently inherits, labeled Inherited from Organization (or Inherited from General, for a page-specific slot)

2. Click Override — this opens the same drawer, pre-filled with the inherited content, ready to edit

3. Click Create — the row now shows an Overrides Organization badge, with Edit and Revert icons

To go back to the inherited message, click Revert. You'll be asked to confirm — reverting deletes the override for good and can't be undone.

To keep the override in place but stop showing it, open Edit and turn off Enabled instead of reverting — this disables the disclaimer without discarding what you wrote.

Overriding for a specific page

The same override pattern works for individual dashboard pages, independent of level. If the Transients page needs its own note — separate from whatever the General disclaimer says — set it directly on that page's slot.

1. From the same Disclaimers tab, scroll to Dashboard Specific

2. Find the page (e.g. Asset Report, Monthly Parking) and click Add or Override

3. Fill in the drawer and save — this disclaimer now takes priority over General for that page only, at this level
